Benzyl alcohol inhibits bacterial growth inside the vial but does not sterilize it; therefore, aseptic technique is mandatory with every draw. The format is multi-dose—one vial is intended for several sequential withdrawals, which is convenient when reconstituting lyophilized peptides and other compounds within a single protocol.
After opening, use the vial within 28 days—the standard period after which bacteriostatic protection is no longer guaranteed even with proper storage. Before opening, room-temperature storage is acceptable until the expiration date. Use in neonates is contraindicated: benzyl alcohol in this age group may cause toxic reactions affecting the central nervous system and respiration. For adults, with proper aseptic technique, the product is a reliable standard solvent with predictable quality.
